Who are Home-openers??
Home-openers are attendees of Journey Church who willingly provide room and board for our disciples for one year, they are people who consider this a essential ministry. They sense they belong to a team, doing their part by warmly receiving these servants of Jesus, giving them a Christ-centered home and a fine Christian example to follow. Home-openers become close to the disciples and soon see them as a part of their own families, they prayerfully support and encourage them, often recieving more blessings and joy than they could ever have dreamt of or hoped for.
What does it involve??
We desire that you first understand what is involved in this commitment, disciples needing housing will generally require such assistance for the entire year they are in this ministry. We believe that it is best for them to live in Christ-centered homes where their training and ministry will be prayerfully supported. Your hospitality is understood to be a gift of God,by the church and to the disciple. While the disciple can be expected to help out with household chores and generally enter into the life of the family, it must be understood that most of disciple’s time will be required in their full-time unpaid ministry in Masters Commission.
The Home-openers Commitments should be…
-
First to the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
-
Second to their family.
-
Third to Masters Commission
-
Fourth to the disciple
It is important to maintain this perspective in order to maintain an environment effective for discipleship.
The Home-openers home and family should be stable and well rounded in love.
Being a Home-opener in a minisrty unto God – You are helping Masters Commission in the training of discipleship for the ministry of soul winning.
The training of the disciple has a lot to do with the disciple learning to become a balanced person – learning all aspects of the ministry. Your part in this process can be helping to polish the disciples and learn to impart a part of your home and family to them.
The disciple is in your home as a guest, he or she is not there to take advantage of the Home-opener in any way. We hope that a loving and respectful relationship will be formed between the disciple and the Home-opener.
During the course of the year that the disciple resides with you, we will remain avalable to assist you in any way needed. We expect that circumstances arising between the disciple and the Home-opener will be prayerfully considered by both parties and resolved accordingly. All situations that are not resolved in this way will be taken care of by the Home-openers staff, who will seek God leading in the situation.
