Hi my name is Ricky Sanchez and I’m the director of our High Five ministry here in Sallisaw, Oklahoma. Our High Five program is where we go to one of our local neighborhoods and bless them with services including cleaning, food, clothes, games, giveaways and much more.
The reason why we call it High Five is for the 5 reasons we’re trying to make a difference in our community impacting, serving, relationships, changing, and loving.
The vision for High Five is to spread the love of Jesus to families outside the walls of our church. We desire to see families be changed and loved by a group of people who are there to serve them, love them, and not want anything in return. It is our goal to see families restored and lives being transformed.
Our future plans for this High Five ministry is that we reach our whole county as well as the surrounding areas. We have seen some awesome things happen in the past 2 years. This apartment complex was one of the roughest here in our town; we had a lot of doors shut in our face and people tell us to go away. But we felt that this is where God really wanted us to be and in the past 2 years we have seen a lot of change happening in the people’s lives. Instead of people shutting doors and telling us to go away, they’re opening their doors and asking us to pray for them and their families.
God is doing some great things and I believe that this is only the beginning of something way bigger than we can image. There is a scripture in the Bible where Paul is talking about a vision that the Lord gave him.
Acts 18:9-11 -One night the Lord spoke to Paul in a vision and told him, “Don’t be afraid! Speak out! Don’t be silent! 10 For I am with you, and no one will attack and harm you, for many people in this city belong to me.” 11 So Paul stayed there for the next year and a half, teaching the word of God.
This scripture motivates us to go wherever God leads us. I have learned that as long as we have a willing heart nothing can stop us nor can anything shut us down!
